About me

Professional Overview

I’m an experienced General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer with deep global legal expertise and a passion for building effective cross-functional teams. With over 20 years advising boards and senior management at companies of all sizes, I have guided businesses through complex financings, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory challenges, and high-stakes risk management. I’ve managed legal functions on a global scale – covering everything from corporate governance and SEC compliance to enterprise SaaS sales and data privacy. Whether it’s negotiating complex contracts, resolving high stakes disputes, or implementing operations, I communicate effectively and focus on outcomes that support the business. I pride myself on being a problem solver, team builder, and mentor who can bridge the gap between legal, technical and operational execution. Along the way, I’ve developed a business-driven, collaborative approach: I strive to design practical solutions that balance legal risk with strategic goals, and I love working across departments to turn good ideas into enterprise-wide programs.

I am also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with deep expertise in privacy and information security. Over the past 10 years I’ve helped organizations build and support compliance, security, and risk management programs that meet rigorous standards in multiple jurisdictions.

Leadership at DataCamp (General Counsel & CAO)

In my current role as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer at DataCamp (a global SaaS e-learning platform), I wear multiple hats. I lead all legal and compliance matters while also overseeing our HR, talent, information security, and privacy functions. Today I manage a team of 10 professionals across these areas. I serve as a strategic advisor to our executive leadership and Board of Directors on issues ranging from major transactions and litigation strategy to international regulatory compliance. My remit is truly global: our operations span over 20 countries and numerous U.S. states, and I regularly navigate multi-jurisdictional challenges in employment law, data protection, and other cross-border matters. A key part of my job is partnering with colleagues across the company to design and implement enterprise programs – whether it’s streamlining how we handle sales contracts or strengthening our overall information security management framework.

At DataCamp, I’ve championed initiatives that drive growth and efficiency. For example, I developed a scalable contracting framework (leveraging playbooks, contract management tools, and even AI automation) that helped increase enterprise sales by about 25% year-over-year. I’ve also optimized how we work with outside counsel, reducing external legal spend by roughly 35%. In addition, I’ve managed our comprehensive global compliance and privacy program to ensure we meet standards like ISO 27001, GDPR, CCPA, championing transformational change in DataCamp’s practices. Drawing on my privacy certification and experience, I provide strategic guidance on information security and data protection, leading our security team and working closing with our software and infrastructure teams to safeguard both company and customer data. From managing international employment issues to handling the occasional litigation or regulatory inquiry, I focus on practical solutions that protect the business and enable DataCamp’s continued growth.

Building Legal & Administrative Functions at LoanStreet

Before joining DataCamp in 2022, I spent six years at LoanStreet, a NYC-based fintech startup, as General Counsel and Head of Administrative Operations. In that role, I built the company’s first legal department from the ground up and took on a wide array of operational duties. I was responsible not only for all legal and compliance matters but also for standing up the information security and data privacy functions. I served as a key advisor on all major business transactions, including leading multiple venture capital financing rounds. I also negotiated critical enterprise partnership and SaaS customer agreements, helping to drive revenue while protecting the company’s interests. To support LoanStreet’s growth, I implemented a streamlined sales contracting process that cut sales cycles time by about 20%. I also developed and rolled out essential policies for internal controls, human resources, cybersecurity, business continuity, and more – establishing a resilient operational backbone for the company. Wearing both the GC hat and the administrative operations hat taught me how to balance legal safeguards with business agility in a fast-paced startup environment. By the time I left LoanStreet, the company had a robust legal and compliance framework and a more mature operational infrastructure to support its next stages of growth.

Early Career & Training

My early career provided me with a strong foundation in corporate law and transactional work. I began as an Associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and later Shearman & Sterling LLP (now A&O Shearman), two top-tier New York law firms, where I handled a broad range of matters for investment banks and corporate clients. Over those years I worked on over $150 billion in securities offerings and financing transactions – including IPOs, follow-on equity offerings, high-yield and investment-grade debt issuances, leveraged buyouts, and more. I also advised companies and private equity sponsors on numerous M&A deals, from public company acquisitions to asset sales. This intensive deal-making experience honed my skills in negotiating complex agreements and managing large cross-border teams. It taught me to thrive under pressure and to deliver results on tight deadlines – skills that have been invaluable throughout my career.

After my law firm years, I moved in-house as an Assistant General Counsel at a publicly traded medical device company (C.R. Bard, later acquired by BD). There, I advised senior management on corporate governance and SEC reporting obligations, and I helped champion major financing and M&A initiatives. I also played a leading role in developing enterprise risk management and compliance programs – for example, designing policies for supply chain sustainability and coordinating annual risk reviews for the Board of Directors. This in-house experience at a Fortune 500 company gave me a broader operational perspective and prepared me to take on the combined legal and administrative leadership roles.

Education & Board Service

I earned my J.D. summa cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law and my A.B. from Princeton University. I believe my strong academic training helped lay the groundwork for the analytical and leadership skills I use every day. I also stay active in the professional community. I served for nine years on the Board of Directors of the Syracuse University Law Alumni Association, and I currently sit on the Board of Directors of the Hudson Highlands Land Trust, where I’m a member of the Finance and Audit committees. I’m passionate about mentorship and education – I regularly speak on topics such as corporate law, strategy, negotiation, and privacy law, sharing insights I’ve gained throughout my career.
